The only solution i see to Watery/Cu orb hunting the rest of us out of all of our fun: Have 5 sets of 2 orbs, 2 for each level bracket. If people aren't the appropriate level, the orb won't work for them.

I think it would be an interesting and fun addition to the MUD, and it would certainly encourage exploration I think. The problem with double exp areas as an exploration aid is that double exp usually lands on areas that are avoided for a reason, like tashadar. An element of randomness would be better, because it would send people all over the place.

Cleric, for sure. Beyond level 23, little is offered to clerics imo. Cast level doesn't affect them much, and the base damage of their spells is rather low. They need some real fleshing out. Clerics are incredibly useful in groups, to be sure, but having a main class cleric is never necessary - a mage, warrior, or thief can do just as good a job past level 105.

I have no understanding of your logic here. Running equipment is exactly the same regardless of if it is bound or not. Unless you're talking about running equipment you don't want or need, in which case go run something you need.

After a while a mudder will have obtained everything that they need. At this point running eq that you don't need, in order to sell/trade, becomes an activity.

Name a mudder who has obtained everything they need please.

Dentin is very correct about sets becoming more powerful.

When i played around 1997 there was some insanely powerful pieces of eq, like for instance the adamantium gauntlets were 12 or 16ac and 2/2 1dex.  Or titanium eq also.  The problem was that there is not eq like that for every wear location, so even though you have some super items, your set as a whole is not as good as it can be now.  I remember having to enchant cityguard eq to try and get a cl on it here and there for missing cl spots, even though we had canes loading, castlevel sets were not as powerful (i think we were missing wrists and feet castlevel).  Plus we didnt have as wide or an array of spells to chose from.

There is also a lot more save eq to chose from nowadays, the benefits of a full save set are huge.

So although small dents may make it seem like stuff is getting worse, on the long term i think the obvious trend is players becoming more powerful.

While I'll mostly agree with dentin, to be fair, cria, there were also gauntlets of striking with 6/6/8 attacks, and canes, and all sorts of funsies eq if you were willing to run such things.

You would be SO surprised what loads, these days, however! The most trouble I have is getting rared out eq to build, if I want something. Most EQ is pretty attainable, except for those one or two pieces that you have to go back in time for, like a cane or a fastest weapon.

Both evil and good can be annoying to maintain at times, due to the offset. I'm evil, because it really does have the best hit gear, but Neutral is probably a wiser decision - when the offset is bad, I often can't run experience as effectively.

Maybe a very high level cleric spell to support multiple parallel tanks (I feel like cleric has nothing going for them past 31). Soul Link: 20% of damage is redirected to nearby allies/other frontliners?
