The function keys work by triggering an alias on the server, so by changing the alias you can change what the function keys do.  For example, pressing f1 invokes the 'f01' alias, while f8 invokes 'f08'. There's a pretty good help page under 'help fkey' that should help you figure out what to change, and several help pages on setting or changing aliases.  Good luck!

So I am pretty new to the game, but loving it so far. Playing a necromancer I get a "Cast" button that pops up when I am under attack, pressing it does my first combat spell "Unfreezing Fire" I believe.

The issue is, I have much better combat spells I would rather use instead but cannot figure out how to change which spell is cast when I hit the "cast" button that pops up during combat.
 Is there a way to do this? I have tried setting Tarrans Spectral Hand to the F1  slot, but it did not change the spell that comes out when I hit the "cast" button that only appears during combat.
  Will that button forever just do my weakest spell?

Are the effects from all of the familiars affected by the Soulstone level (up to a cap)? I was under the impression that they were the same regardless of the soulstone, which is why I normally use low level soulstones to summon them.

FYI, all of the tank minions, eg clay man, wood woad, metal construct, bone guardian, and flesh beast take the same amount of mana to maintain.

The green demon varies with soulstone level, though I don't know if it ever goes higher than +2.

Some minions require more when they are injured so they can heal faster.  I think this might just be mage minions, but it may also apply to water weird.

Timby, there's actually quite a few items with the 'infravision' spell on them, including the night-vision goggles and and a miners helmet.  I'm not sure the easiest place to find those in particular, but if you keep your eyes open in the donation rooms something is bound to turn up eventually.

One thing to keep in mind is that infravision won't let you see that much farther.  One way I use to keep track of nearby creatures is to use the dancing lights spell - by sending it into nearby rooms, I can tell what's there for an extended period of time (and scan works after you do it.)  There's a handful of ways of dealing with the problem, but each has drawbacks.

I'm Posting for a blind friend of mine who plays.  Is there a spell, item, etc... that lets you see at night?  He uses the candle so he can move, but doesn't want to get ambushed by critters he can't see...
  Any info would be appreciated.  His character that he's currently using is named Gerstel.

How much mana regeneration do minions take up?

The help files don't really mention how much mana regeneration is needed to sustain a minion, beyond the vague 'requires a small amount of mana to sustain'.

With that in mind, I performed a few tests (summon minion, see how much mana I regain per tick) to determine the sustain costs of select minions. It is assumed that the % level of the skill doesn't affect their mana regeneration cost.

Results (mana regeneration per tick, +/- 1)
Clay Man: -9
Wood Woad: -7
Earth Wall: -5
Water Weird: -18

8 Skeletal Spiders: 0
Skeletal Warrior: 0
Ghoul: 0

Red Imp: 0
Green Demon: +2.0

Unfortunately, this is a known problem:  the client downloads the sounds while it's running, and it takes a while to get all the sounds that it needs.  Fortunately, that also means that the problem will go away after the client has been running for a while, because it'll eventually have all the sounds.  Since there's so many sounds, I think it can actually take an hour or two to grab all the files.

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you right now - I'll put some notes in the client code to look at it again.  There might be a way to increase the priority of what gets downloaded so this is less of an issue.

Hi!
I downloaded official Alter Aeon client...
I have problem with sounds...
When I launch the game I dont hear any sounds. I cant hear footsteps, attack sounds...
After a while I can hear my footsteps but I have problems with spells sounds etc.
From time to time they just... disable... after 5 minutes I can hear them again.

How to fix it?
I tried reintsalling but it didnt work ;\
