Is it down? I'm new, and can't connect to game... maybe it's something I'm doing wrong?

Are you still having problems connecting?  The server has been up since Tue Mar  4 22:46:13 2014 so it is more than likely something your end.  If you post some details I'll try to help you if I can.

The game is up, it's a problem your end.  fyi the server is usually up 99%+ of the time, you can check who is logged on and when it was last rebooted at http://alteraeon.com:8080/wholist

Try downloading and using the dclient or changing the connecting port also check your firewall settings are not blocking the connection.
